Meet Jay
Jay Kolo was born John Anthony Kolodziejski on March 17th, 1961 in Oak Park, Illinois. He was raised on the south side of Chicago and later moved to north suburban Niles. At the age of thirteen alcohol entered Jay's life and had a crippling effect on him for the next twenty-one years.

After years of misery and stints in mental institutions along with periods of homelessness, this high school dropout decided to end that misery by ending his life at the age of thirty-four. On August 10th, 1995 what appeared to be the final moments of his life turned out to be the final moments of his drinking.

Today with nearly fourteen years of sobriety to his credit, this photographer, author, poet, husband and father of two embraces life in a rather unorthodox way. His natural creativity and his years of living on the dark side have made his photography skills something he offers to others as a way for them to further their dreams and showcase their talents and beauty to the world. His past pain has allowed him to develop a keen eye and sense of style.

Jay's photography is designed to enlighten, inspire and provoke. He speaks from the heart and photographs from the soul. Often denounced by those who share his chosen profession, always embraced by those he photographs, Jay's gentle manner has him quickly emerging as an elite name in the world of photography.
